From the first time he got drunk to that very night he broke Bridget’s heart, James told Isa everything. He would stop from time to time, just to check Isa’s reaction, but the latter remained calm and seemed to have understood why he was such a rebel before.
James felt unloved. As if he didn’t matter to his parents as much as his other siblings, Phil and Keri, did. It went beyond the fact that he didn’t look like them. His ill feelings came from a deeper source.
Jealousy.
But later in his life did James realize that he had no reason to be jealous because his parents and all the other people around him did truly love him for the person he was, making him regret his past actions that have caused them much pain.
”.. So, yeah. I was a mess two years ago, and the year before that and the year before-“
“Sssh.” Isa put her forefinger on James’ soft lips as she smiled. “I know, okay? You don’t need to say it again and again and again.” She added. “But you haven’t really talked about the Bridget part that much yet. Does it make you feel.. uncomfortable?”
“Do you think I can talk with your finger on my lips?” James smiled.
“Oh.” Isa laughed a bit as she took her finger off of James’ lips. “You can talk now.”
The latter smiled as he looked down, then stared into the distance. “The Bridget part? Yeah.. it does make me feel a bit uncomfortable.” He admitted. “But it’s a part of my life that I can’t just run away from.”
Isa’s eyebrows furrowed. “What do you mean?”
“If not for Bridget, I wouldn’t have been a changed man.” James said. “That night she caught me kissing another girl.. that night she slapped my face really hard.. I felt myself wake up. Like, really really wake up.” He laughed a bit, then his facial expression slowly returned to being serious.
“Bridget has always been there for me. Through the good times and the bad. Even if I kept pushing her away and telling her that I didn’t need someone like her in my life, she just kept hanging on.” James said. “She’s definitely the one that got away.”
Isa felt her heart get smashed into little pieces. What about her? What was she to him?
“Do you… Do you still want her back?” Isa dared to ask the question she dreaded the most.
James looked at her and simply shook his head. “I admit. She was one of my motivations to change, because I wanted to be a better man for her.. because I wanted to make it up to her.” He said. “But now, I know that I should be running back to her and telling her that I want her back, but I don’t.” James looked into Isa’s eyes.
At that very moment, Isa felt her hands get clammy, her heart beat fast and sweat form at the back of her neck. She’s never felt this way in her entire life and the feeling gave her the chills.
“Maybe it’s because I’ve found someone I can actually start over with and really love, with all my heart.” James moved closer to Isa. “Someone I can really be myself with, without any insecurites.. without any boundaries.” He tucked a few strands of her hair behind her ear.
“Someone that is… you.”
Then Isa felt James’ soft lips on hers and she was glad. So glad that her first kiss was with the guy she had always wanted more than anything else.

Hey, guys! Fran here. Long time nooooo update. Now, that my laptop’s finally fixed, I shall get back to writing asap. :)
Btw, Isa and I watched the Azkals exhibition games yesterday at Panaad, and I’ve got tons of chikka. Well, not really. But a lot of good things happened. Hahaha! Still debating as to whether or not I should make a post about it.
It’s sooo good to be back!
